I’d like to “officially” welcome you to our weblog and thank you for stopping by!
I had so much fun writing these last two “baby” books in The Whitney Chronicles series — and I can’t wait to hear your story. Since we’re going around the virtual room “making introductions,” I’ll start. : )
I was born and raised on a farm on the prairies of North Dakota. An only child, I spent most of my days with imaginary people — either those I read about or those I made up in my head. My most ambitious conjuring did not succeed, however. I kept a clean stall with hay and oats for the horse I imagined would come, but unfortunately, it never did. However, as an adult, I managed to make that dream come true and raised foundation quarter horses and buffalo for some years. A voracious reader, I learned to read with comic books, anything from Little Lulu and Superman to the Rawhide Kid. I sold my first story for $10 to a farm magazine. I still have the $10!
I graduated from Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota, with a major in English and education and a minor in religion. At the time, I was simply studying what interested me, but I now realize that I was educating myself for my future career as an inspirational romance writer.
I wanted to write for Harlequin even in high school but it wasn’t until my youngest child learned to say “no” that I realized I’d better consider a second career to fall back on when mothering was done. My first book was written with my little girl on my lap. I would type a few words and say, “Now, Jennifer,” at which time my daughter would hit the space bar before I continued typing. It wasn’t the fastest way to work, but it offered a lot of mother-daughter time together.
I’ve always been a bit of an over-achiever, so it’s no surprise to my family that I have written more than 75 books for various publishers. As a mother of two and step-mother of three, I now have lots of family to enjoy.
In 2001, I went back to school and became a certified professional life coach. I’m currently working on my master’s in human development in the areas of writing, coaching and spirituality and writing inspirational chick lit which, is the most fun I’ve ever had writing.
So that’s a bit about me. Now it’s your turn!

Hi–As we go into the weekend, my step-daughter is counting the minutes until she has her own baby–a little girl. She’s so excited and impatient. When I had my own children I remember thinking that although it would be nice not to be pregnant any longer, that life would become much more complicated once the baby was born. Unlike having teenagers, when I was pregnant, it was easy to know where my child was and what it was doing!
